To
commemorate the Word Breastfeeding Week 2005 (WBW 05), the I-India
& UNICEF Jaipur carried out some activities of which the start
of the action was a One Day planning workshop on " Breastfeeding
and Family Foods: Loving & healthy", held on the 1st of August
2005 at Jaipur. About 40 NGO’s from 14 different districts of
Rajasthan participated together with Doctors, Government officials
& Unicef representatives in this workshop. The workshop focused
the theme of year 2005 and formed an Action plan for statewide activities
proposed to be carried out during Breastfeeding Week 2005. |

On
the occasion of World Breastfeeding week Center for Rural Prosperity
& Research (CRPR) organized a huge rally, which walked into the
village Hathigram of Malpura district. The rally disseminated information
& messages on exclusive breastfeeding & its’ benefits
to mother & infant both. Women, adolescent girls, students and
representatives of local health functionaries were participated in
this rally. |

Gramin Vikas Sansthan of Peepalda conducted an Orientation meeting
between AWW (Aanganwari Workers), lactating mothers & adolescent
girls. The meeting unfolded some important facts of breastfeeding
& denounced some unscientific myths on the use of ‘First
Milk’. The meeting organized under World Breastfeeding Week
2005. |

| This time on the occasion of World Breastfeeding Week 2005, Jan Mangal Sansthan conducted a grant Public Meeting at Gandhi Chowk, Udaipur. Doctors, professors of medical college, educationists & ICDS workers attended this meeting. The meeting explored the necessity & need of Breastfeeding among tribal population of Rajasthan. In this meeting the representatives of local NGO’ & CBO’s proposed to launch a special awareness program in tribal areas for disseminating information on exclusive breastfeeding & its’ benefits. | |

Gram
Vikas Gramodhyog Samiti, Alsisar, initiated the walk-rally for future
mothers demanding ‘breastfeeding’-a right for child &
mother. 500 students of secondary schools and adolescent girls were
participated in this rally by holding signboards carrying messages
of great importance on breastfeeding & mother-child development.
The organization also conducted a sensitizing orientation session
of students from Girls College for owning & adopting Breastfeeding
in coming future for their children. The workshop revealed various
scientific & social facts related to Breastfeeding and its’
importance. |
